Our Board of Trustees

Professor Jo Barraket is Director of the Melbourne Social Equity Institute at the University of Melbourne. Prior to this, she was Director of the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) Swinburne and National Research Director of the CSI network.

Professor Barraket is a leading researcher in the areas of social enterprise, social innovation and relationships between governments and the third sector in social policy development. She has more than 80 publications. Her work has contributed to national and state-based policy development and practice in social enterprise and development of the social economy. Based on her expertise in these areas, Professor Barraket has been the national expert adviser to the OECD on two projects related to the social economy and socio-economic participation. She has led more than $11 million in grant-funded and commissioned research, including national competitive grants funded by the Australian Research Council and projects funded by corporate and private philanthropy, and federal, state and local governments.

Carolyn is a financial services professional with a legal and risk background.

Carolyn has been at Westpac for 17 years in a variety of roles. She is currently General Manager for Property, Procurement and Protective Services, part of the Corporate Services shared services function for the Westpac Group. In this role she is accountable for all of Westpac Group’s direct operations’ environmental and sustainability performance and meeting Westpac’s supply chain responsible sourcing requirements and diversity targets.

Previous Westpac roles include Chief of Staff to Westpac Group CEO, Head of Westpac Group Corporate Legal and Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for BT Financial Group.

Carolyn has considerable experience in Corporate Governance, M&A transactions and large contracts including large supplier and property contracts and is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.

Carolyn’s early experience was at Minter Ellison Lawyers in Commercial Property and Finance and at AWAS Aviation Services, Morgan Stanley’s aircraft leasing arm.

Carolyn has first class honours degrees in Arts and Law from the Australian National University

As a partner in MinterEllison’s Corporate & Capital Markets Group with a finance and projects background, Keith possesses valuable experience across the financial capital spectrum, acting for sponsors and funders in many industry sectors, including real estate, infrastructure and technology. He takes pride in his commercial acumen and solutions-oriented approach.
 

Keith’s commercial experience and interest in sustainability help inform his current work with corporates, not-for-profit and emerging social enterprise clients. He strives to create shared value, collaborating across the corporate, government, not-for-profit and education sectors working with others to develop innovative approaches to tackling social and environmental issues.
 

He leads the MinterEllison Pro Bono and Community Investments programs and in this role, develops partnerships with clients who are seeking to amplify their social impact through engaging with charities and social enterprises, working on social business models, impact investment and social finance and developing cross sector collaboration.
 

Keith also advises a number of social enterprise clients on corporate and financial structures so that they can take advantage of capital and funding streams and corporate and government partnerships. He is on the ISO and Standard Australia’s Technical Working Groups for Green and Sustainable Finance. This engagement enables him to provide clients with up to date information about sustainable finance, local market and global trends.

Jane has over 30 years’ experience across banking and financial services in Australia. She has held senior executive positions in Westpac, (including BT Financial Group), Macquarie and Lendlease. Over the decades Jane has led large customer-facing businesses covering Private Banking, Advice, Wealth Management, Consumer Banking and Business Banking. Most recently Jane was the Chief Customer Engagement Officer for the Business Bank of Westpac, before she embarked on a non-executive director board career.

Throughout her career, Jane has sat on a variety of internal company boards as well as foundations such as the ACTU-Lend Lease Foundation and she is currently on the Orygen Youth Mental Health Foundation. Jane is currently a non-executive director on the boards of Liberty Financial Group (ASX: LFG) and Family Zone (ASX: FZO). 

Jane has a passion for supporting people in need and has been actively involved over the years in fundraising activities for Dress for Success, Fitted for Work and for people living with Multiple Sclerosis. She was also previously an executive sponsor of the School for Social Enterprises on behalf of BT Financial Group.

Jane has a Ph.D. in Organisational Psychology and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
